Here’s THE Greatest Survival Tip I Ever Discovered

amber-fields-mountainWe all know it, don’t we? Something is terribly wrong with our world, and things could go downhill fast!  But there IS hope! Allow me to share the greatest survival tip I’ve ever discovered – with you.
Let’s get started…

What is THE Ultimate Survival Tip?

Over the years, I have passed on survival tips, tricks and training to help you and the others we serve. But I’ll be honest, I think I learn more from you guys than I share…

So I was curious what you, our fans, followers and friends, thought was the MOST important survival tip –  The “Ultimate” Survival Tip, if you will.

Here are a few of my favorites from the hundreds of responses we received:

– Stay Positive and Believe You Can Survive
– STOP = Stop, Think, Observe, Plan
– Never Give Up
– Become Friends with Bear Grylls
– Control Your Core Body Temperature… in Other Words… Stay Alive
– Always Have Toilet Paper
– Be Prepared – Because You Never Know…
– Avoid Situations Where Survival Tips May Come in Handy
– Pray. Then Act
– Don’t Die
– Prepare for the Worst, Hope for the Best

Which is your favorite?
Mine is, “Prepare for the Worst, Hope for the Best.”

You Are Part of the Ultimate Statistic?

Some of these tips are good advice. Some are just funny.  But NONE are THE greatest survival tip I’ve ever learned. So stand by, I’ll get to that in a minute…

The plain and simple fact is, that regardless of how many cool survival tips we know, no matter how much we train, how far underground we build our survival bunker or how many years of food we have stored up to prepare and position ourselves to outlast a WCS (Worst Case Scenario) we are still only delaying our participation in the Ultimate Statistic…

What is Ultimate Survival Statistic?

Doctors agree, 10 out of 10 people will one day die.

Whether it’s tomorrow, next week or in 80 years from now, every one of us will die. Regardless of our training, stockpiles, connections, wealth, health, wisdom or position.

And for some, maybe even you, death may come knocking at your door long before you’ll use a single #10 can of beans or bag of rice stored in your basement for survival.

After all, 154,000 people will die in the next 24 hours. And most will die unexpectedly.

Now, I’m not saying you are going to die today, but what I AM saying is that we are all taking great effort to prepare to survive a bit longer on this earth IF a disaster strikes – but we all KNOW for certain that one day death WILL come our way. We just don’t want to think about it. I know I don’t!

So, if you are preparing to survive a disaster that may or may not come – shouldn’t you have a plan to deal with death, since you KNOW that death WILL certainly come?

No, I’m not talking about a putting together a will and making sure you have enough life insurance for those you leave behind (although these are good things).

So I Feel Like I Need to Ask You This…

“Do you know where you are going, when your heart beats for the last time on this planet we call home?”

Why Do We Die?

Okay, now that we have established that death is inevitable for all of us, AND the fact that surviving a WCS is not… let me ask you,
”Why do we die?”

There’s probably a million opinions as to why we die. I don’t know about you, but for me opinions don’t cut it with such serious and eternal matters.

So I went back to the book that I have grown to trust as my manual for life, the “Good Book,” the Bible, to search for some answers to share with you.

The biblical explanation as to why each of us will die is really quite fascinating.

It essentially says that we die because we have sinned and rebelled against God and His laws (Romans 5:12 and Genesis 2:17). And it boils down to “the wages of sin is death…” (Romans 6:23).

In short, we get paid our just wages for sinning against God. And those wages are death.

If that doesn’t slap you upside the head, I don’t know what will.

IS there Life after Death?

It’s one big question, “Is there life after death – and what does that look like?”

The answer to this question is fundamental in not only how you and I die but also how we live the rest of the days we have on the earth.

Exactly What Happens After We Die?

Do we simply cease to exist? Is life a revolving door of departing and returning to earth in order to eventually achieve personal greatness (which is reincarnation)?

Does everyone go to the same place, or do we go to different places?

Is there Really a Heaven and a Hell?

The Bible tells us that there is not only life after we die but two places we can go.

One place is called heaven (or paradise). It’s a perfect place that has NO sin, no suffering, no war, no disease, no death and no bad people.

It’s the place where those who have faith in Jesus get to live an eternal life so glorious that “no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9).

The bad news is that those who are bad people and don’t love God (or place their faith in Jesus) will live in a terrible place forever. This place is called hell. “Their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur…”  (Revelation 21:8)

Are You Serious… Heaven and Hell? Come on David…

Now, just in case you are laughing, skeptical or even mad right now, and don’t believe there is a heaven and hell… let me ask you, “Where do YOU say that we go when we die?

Okay, got your answer?

Now, let me follow up with this question, “What if you are wrong?”

If I am Wrong, I have NO Regrets… How About You?

I have followed a path I believed was true. Along the way I have lived my life for others, been made a better person, lived according to good and right biblical principles that brought much love and fulfillment to my life.

I have a WONDERFUL wife of 28 years and 2 grown and married children, and four cool grandchildren. Our kids and their spouses love Jesus and get to live the awesome legacy that my wife and I have enjoyed.

This life has not been perfect. We have suffered much, grown a ton and gone through hard times. But it’s been a good and blessed life. And through all of life’s joys and sorrows – we have had a keen sense of the Lord being right there with us – along the way.

So if I am right about heaven and hell, I am looking forward to hanging out with Jesus in a place beyond my wildest dreams – forever!!!

Either way, whether I am right (which I have pretty strong evidence that I am)… or wrong, I believe I’m the better man for it.

But if you don’t believe in a heaven or hell and are wrong, and you are not good enough to get to heaven – there IS hell to pay… and from what I have read, hell sucks!!! Big time!

Are You Good Enough to Go to Heaven?

So let me ask, “Are you good enough to go to heaven? Or asked a different way, “Do you think you are a good person?”  You probably do.

The most a common reaction to this question is, “Hey, I’m a pretty good person, and I’m certainly no Hitler or Osama Bin Laden… and I’m better than most.”

But the problem, according the the Bible is that being “good enough” is NOT “good enough” to get you into heaven (Romans 3:23, Romans 3:10-18)

You see, Heaven is a perfect place, and if you’ve sinned even one time in your whole life, you are disqualified.

Don’t get mad at me, I didn’t make the rules.

Here’s the problem.

The Fatal Mistake

In today’s culture we often make a HUGE mistake thinking that God’s standards are the same as ours. This is like saying that we should have no laws, and every person should just do whatever they please, according to what they believe is right.

The last time I checked…this is called anarchy. But this is often how we deal with God’s clear standards as recorded in the 10 Commandments.

Have You Sinned Against God?

As we talked about earlier, each of us WILL die because we have sinned against God.

Let’s see if that’s true for you:

1) Have you ever lied (even once -this includes, white lies and half truths)?

2) Have you ever stolen (anything – no matter how small)?

3) Have you ever committed adultery? No!?

Jesus said, “Whoever looks upon a woman to lust after her, has committed adultery already with her in his heart.” That’s a tough one… and one that nailed me.

If you have said, “Yes” to any or all of these you are a liar, thief and an adulterer at heart.

And we’ve only take a look at 3 out of God’s 10 Commandments.

So, How Will You Do on Judgement Day?

Will you be innocent or guilty? Now tell the truth.

If you are honest with yourself, you know you will be found guilty. And when you are found guilty, you deserve hell not heaven!!!

…Long Silent Pause…

BUT, that’s not God’s will for you!

He provided a way for you to be forgiven.

He sent His Son, Jesus, to die in your place and take your punishment by being nailed to a cross for YOU!

“God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us”  (Romans 5:8).

THE Greatest Survival Tip I Ever Discovered!!!

Okay, here it is… If I ever give you a survival tip that you should seriously consider… this is THE one!

Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, came to the earth to give us a gift of eternal life. “But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5).

Essentially, this means, Jesus was killed in your place.

Jesus took on the punishment that each and every one of us deserve because of our sins (Romans 3:23, Ezekiel 18:4, Romans 6:23) and sacrificed His life to pay the penalty for our sins.

ONLY Jesus could take the punishment for your sin, and my sin, and every sin past present and future, because He was totally without sin himself and was the perfect sacrifice (the only sacrifice God the Father would accept) for us (1 Peter 2:22, 2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 Peter 1:19).

Three days later, He (Jesus) proved Himself victorious over death by rising from the grave. Something NO one else has ever done – ever!

He remained on the earth for forty days and was seen by more than 500 people before ascending to heaven (1 Corinthians 15:6).

Romans 4:25 says, “He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.” This means that he paid for our sins in full and was raised from the dead to prove that it was true. His bodily, visible, documented resurrection was the proof!

The resurrection of the Christ is a well-documented event and has never been disproved. We celebrate this every Easter.

This also means that Jesus is NOT in the grave. Every other religious leader is in the ground to this day. But NOT Jesus. Jesus is alive!

The apostle Paul challenged people to question eyewitnesses of Jesus’ resurrection for its validity, and no one was able to contest its truth. The resurrection is the cornerstone of the Christian faith.

Because Christ was raised from the dead, we can have faith that we, too, will be resurrected and live with Him in Heaven. And that’s pretty cool.

The Ultimate Proof of Life After Death

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the ultimate proof of life after death.

Christ was only the first of a great harvest of those who will be raised to life again. Physical death came through one man, Adam (of Adam and Eve fame), to whom we are all related. But all who have been adopted into God’s family through faith in Jesus Christ will be given new life (1 Corinthians 15:20-22). Just as God raised up Jesus’ body, so will our bodies be resurrected upon Jesus’ return (1 Corinthians 6:14).

The Choice is Yours

Although we will all be eventually resurrected, not everyone will go to heaven. You must make a choice, and this choice will determine your eternal destination.

The Bible says that it is appointed for us to die only once, and after that will come judgment (Hebrews 9:27). We will all be judged according to our works… and even one sin disqualifies us from heaven.

This means that without a ticket from Jesus, there’s NO way to work, earn or reincarnate your way to heaven (John 14:6).

Those who have been made righteous by and through faith in Christ will enjoy eternal life in heaven, but those who reject Christ as Savior will be sent to eternal punishment in hell (Matthew 25:46).

Hell, like heaven, is not simply a state of existence, but a literal place. It is a place where the unrighteous will experience never-ending, eternal wrath from God. Hell is described as a bottomless pit (Luke 8:31; Revelation 9:1) and a lake of fire, burning with sulfur, where the inhabitants will be tormented day and night forever and ever (Revelation 20:10).

In hell, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, indicating intense grief and anger (Matthew 13:42).

God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but desires them to turn from their wicked ways so that they can live (Ezekiel 33:11). Remember we are ALL in the “wicked” category without faith in Jesus Christ.

But God gives us the DIGNITY of Choice and will not force us into submission; if we choose to reject Him, He accepts our decision to live eternally apart from Him, cursed and in eternal fire that was prepared for the devil and his angels. (Matthew 25:41, Revelation 21:8).

Life on earth is a test, a preparation for what is to come, if you will.

For believers in Jesus Christ, life after death is eternal life in heaven with God (Revelation 21:1-27, Luke 23:43).

For unbelievers, life after death is eternity in the lake of fire (Matthew 25:41). Ouch!

How to Receive Eternal Life – And Live Forever!

So, how can you receive eternal life after death and avoid an eternity in the lake of fire?

I’m glad you asked!!!

There is only one way— by acknowledging your sin, turning from it, asking forgiveness and having faith and trust in Jesus Christ. Jesus is the only ticket to heaven.

He’s the only parachute, He’s the only life raft. There is NO other way.

Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in Me will never die…” (John 11:25-26).

The Free Gift of Eternal Life Is Available To All

“Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him” (John 3:36).

Just in case you are thinking you might just hold off on all this “Jesus stuff,” I hate to tell you that (according to the Bible) YOU will NOT be given the opportunity to accept God’s gift of salvation after death.

And so, you are at risk every day of your life… It’s a bad gamble (at best) to put off Jesus.

Your eternal destination is determined in your earthly lifetime by your reception or rejection of Jesus Christ. “I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2).

When you trust the death of Jesus Christ as the full payment for the sin that you have committed against God, you are guaranteed not only a meaningful life on earth, but also eternal life after death, in the glorious presence of Jesus Christ.

I personally am looking forward to hanging out with Him! And I’d love to hang out with Him, with you!!!

Jesus is the BEST I have to Give You!

There is NO other survival tip, no gold or gear that I can give you of greater value than  this loving recommendation:

“Turn from your sin, ask God for forgiveness, and trust Jesus for the rest of your life.”

I have been a believer in Jesus now since 1986. He has never let me down… although I have failed him many times.

Yet He remains faithful. And He has changed -and is changing- me, for the better. He has somehow changed my hard, selfish and rebellious heart. And He is making me more caring, and selfless, a better man, a better husband, a better father, and friend.

So THE Ultimate Survival Tip is… “Trust Jesus!”

If you want a pardon for all your sin, and a NEW start, you can talk to Jesus right now:

Lord Jesus, I believe You died on the cross for me and that You were penalized for my sins so I could be set free. I now turn away from evil and ask You to be my personal Savior and Lord. Please forgive me for my sins and make me a part of Your family forever. Thank you, Jesus!

Have you made a decision to receive Jesus Christ as your Savior?

If so, please let me know. It would be my pleasure to pray with and for you and help point you in the right direction as you live out the rest of your life as a follower of Jesus.

Great article David. As a fellow Christian it is refreshing to see one confident enough to throw out such advice. Not to many people understand that faith in Jesus is so important in desperate times as well as good times.Keep up the great work.

  • Caleb S.

Excellent article! Many people in the survival industry who are Christians are often either ashamed or afraid to give a reason for the hope that is within them and its good to see someone preaching a Gospel message that is both loving yet warning – not too watered down nor too harsh.
The only other site I have ever found to do something like this is Kevin from
BTW, I absolutely love Ray Comfort’s teachings, tracts and methodology – I have give out thousands of tracts over the years and none are so powerful than his.
May God bless you and keep shining for Him!

  • John

What an incredibly misleading title. Your ultimate survival tip is a preachy gospel message that everyone in the Western world has already heard before? LAME

    • Carin

John, when we posted this article, we knew for sure it would stir up some debate, but to be true to who we are and the reality we live through the totally changed lives we now experience because of what Jesus did for us, we wanted people to know that YES! We do indeed believe that the ultimate tip of lasting value is believing what Jesus said and getting one’s heart right with God. If we can help another fellow wandering pilgrim, that is our highest joy and delight. Jesus is the only reason we have anything of any worth in this life and apart from Him, everything else is just so much hot air. Yep, even all our survival tips. Thank you so much for your comment.

    • Carin

Hi Art – we love to hear from folks and interact but we honestly are not sure what you are communicating with this comment…feel free to share more.

  • James

Seriously we die because we’ve sinned tell that to the millions of parents who lost an infant or young child that is too young to have sinned

    • Carin

James, thank you for your honest comment. You have picked out a very special circumstance and I’d hate to see you discount the gospel because of it. If this has been your reality, we are so very sorry for your loss. That is a pain like no other. Here is a link to one of my favorite pastors on the matter:–2 I think this highlights that God is good alongside His justice.~ Carin

God bless you and yours David. Through your article I’ve seen someone who is strong in his conviction, sound in his belief, and willing to stand firm in his faith. I’m a child of God as well, not perfect nor devout as you or your family but I do believe. Thank you David for all that you do and we’ll see you on the other side.

    • Carin

David: Thanks for the blessing, Gary. Glad we could encourage you. And for even more encouragement, let me clarify that my family and I are *far* from perfect…which is why we need Jesus so desperately!

  • Clint

Thanks for writing that! I’m very proud to see people stepping up for their faith, regardless of the outcomes, in today’s very politically correct society. Great Job and God Bless!

  • Zbyszek

I feel offended by this article. Do you really think that every person who is not a Christian is a bad person and deserves the “eternal suffering in the fires of hell”? I am an atheist. I made a lot of mistakes in my life but I did a lot of good too. Do not judge people through the prism of faith or lack thereof. In your article you did not mention the existence of purgatory – a place of penance for sins.
I come from a Catholic home so I know the dogmas of the Christian religion. I also read the Bible, I’m not ignorant.
I believe that many people reading this who are not believers may feel offended by this article. Your articles are great and very useful but please do not mix it with religion.

    Greetings from Poland

    • Hi Zybyszek,

Thank you for your comment. I wish you and I could sit down, have some coffee and talk through your concerns about this article…and the Scripture that I have included to support it.

That would be cool… But we can’t, at least not today my friend. So here is my best shot at answering your questions and concerns.

You asked, “Do you really think that every person who is not a Christian is a bad person and deserves the “eternal suffering in the fires of hell”?

To start, let me clarify something… The Bible makes it clear that we are ALL bad people. I don’t want to exclude anyone or lift up anyone as better than any other as we dive into this (See Romans 3:23, Romans 3:10, Ecclesiastes 7:20).

Just wanted to square that one away first.

So… back to the question, “Do you really think that every person who is not a Christian is a bad person and deserves the “eternal suffering in the fires of hell”?

“Yes.” And actually I believe we all deserve hell (according to how I understand what scripture clearly reveals.

Now..”Do I like it? No,” not particularly. “Do I get to make the rules? No.” “Is God: loving, merciful, kind, and just? Yep.” “Does He know what He is doing? Yes.” And… “Am I smarter than him? No.”

So let me tell you a personal story…
I confess, my father may not have been a believer when he died. Although a kind loving, and giving person for his entire life I do no know if he knew Jesus. He died suddenly when I was away in my senior year of college. And I do not have an assurance of where he is today. I have reconciled that this is between my father and the Lord and would find it awesome to see him one day in heaven. I just simply don’t know.

The concepts of God’s justice, and wrath especially to our western-oriented cultural mindset can make our minds explode. I think this is largely because we don’t think this is kind or just… and we have watered our impression of God down to what we want to see… essentially, “God is love.” Now he IS love, but he is much richer is character and persona than that.

So his justice, wrath and hatred of evil and sin does not seem to fit our impression of what we want God to be. And we / I can find this offensive. I get that.

Because I too was once offended by the Gospel. So I know how you feel. Your questions were once my questions. And honestly, I don’t have it all “worked out.” I still have questions, but I do trust in the Lord now that he knows what he is doing.

God is obviously not trying to win any popularity contests. But I will say that on the reverse side of the equation – the Scripture is clear that all who trust in Jesus will NOT suffer the wrath of God – a wrath that we all deserve.

You actually nailed it. The message of the wrath of God, the cross and the Gospel of Jesus IS offensive. Truth is often like that. Who of us wants to hear that we are / or were wrong. Jesus was and is offensive. He does not tell us what we want to hear – that’s one of the reasons that he was crucified. The religious leaders of the time wanted to shut Jesus up. Jesus is as counter cultural today as he was 2,000+ years ago.

Here is a rather long, but (I think) helpful passage (from 1 Corinthians 1:18-31) that talks about how offensive the Gospel is and how foolish it can seem to us and why:

“The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God. As the Scriptures say,

“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and discard the intelligence of the intelligent.”

So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world’s brilliant debaters? God has made the wisdom of this world look foolish. Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never know him through human wisdom, he has used our foolish preaching to save those who believe. It is foolish to the Jews, who ask for signs from heaven. And it is foolish to the Greeks, who seek human wisdom. So when we preach that Christ was crucified, the Jews are offended and the Gentiles say it’s all nonsense.

But to those called by God to salvation, both Jews and Gentiles, if Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. This foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God’s weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength.

Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world’s eyes or powerful or wealthy when God called you. Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God.

God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin. Therefore, as the Scriptures say, “If you want to boast, boast only about the Lord.”

You see, salvation and being right before God is NOT merit based, meaning: you and I cannot work our way into God’s favor by the things that we do or don’t do.

AND… the concept of religion IS merit based. And can and often does lead to prejudice, pride, persecution, self-righteousness and division.

Here’s how “religion” works: I work hard and do good things. So I see myself as better than others. So others are not as good as me, and I am not as bad as them so I am okay. But the others who do not live up to the standard that I keep – I look down at them. Think less of them, and may even persecute or harm them. In short, “I am better than you!”

Even within historical “Christianity” this has been an ungodly error of the “church” through the ages.

BUT this is NOT what Jesus taught. And this is not what I believe.

And… “relationship” (with Jesus) – NOT religion – is that’s what makes TRUE Biblical Christianity different than any other belief system.

In all other “religions” that I know of, salvation is gained when your good and bad deeds are essentially weighed on the scales and if your good works outweigh your bad, you are “good to go.” Smooth sailing.

      See, that’s what we want.

But the Bible does not teach this (please refer to this full article for Scripture reference)…

The Bible teaches that we are all born sinners (none of us like that – do we?) and we ALL are in need of a savior…

And… that there is no hope for us to work our way to heaven.

Romans 3:23 says, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” Romans 6:23 says, “The wages of sin is death… but the gift of God is Eternal life through Jesus Christ…”

You and I can NEVER measure up to the perfect standard needed to be seen as righteous (or good enough in God’s eyes) to enter heaven. BUT… Jesus (the perfect Lamb of God) was persecuted, beaten, suffered shame, betrayal, and felt the full vacuum of separation from God and the just wrath of God so that you and I would not have to0 suffer this way.

It’s really quite beautiful and humbling that Jesus (who was fully God in every way) added to his divinity – humanity…

He who created the Universe (See John Chapter 1)… lived a sinless life as a man to pay the debt that He didn’t own for a people (us) who turned their backs on Him… and deserved nothing but the full, just and unbridled wrath of God. It’s unfathomable really and completely contrary to any other religion’s teaching. That God would take the full punishment for those who deserve it so we could live full lives now and one day be with him.

Being on this side of the equation, I can say that there is great peace and joy AND I don’t have to strive to do good and be good. My sin IS forgiven. All of it. And there is a path to “clean the pipes” when I do mess up and sin… which seems like about every day.

Life is by no means perfect but Jesus has changed my heart and changed my motives and I want to (not have to) do good and be good… And His peace and joy is available to all!

I too grew up Catholic. Baptized as a baby, Confirmed at 12, the priests lived two doors down from my home and were my my friends as I grew up. I was an alter boy and occasionally stole sips of wine when preparing for mass. I went to Catholic school. So I get what you are saying about being Catholic.

But all of Catholicism did not change my heart. I know Catholics who sincerely love God and follow Jesus. I was just not one of them.

I was never a “bad” person in my own eyes (back in those days). AND I knew for sure I was not as bad as most… and I was actually a pretty good kid and guy.

But I realized while reading through the book of Romans in my senior year of college that being “pretty” good, and doing good was not enough. And that by God’s standards, I was in a really bad place. God perused me, as he is perusing you now Zbyszek… (and any others that have read this response this far) as he peruses us all.

And one day he caught up with me, and I gave my life over to him. I had had it with my running. I had had it with drinking. I had had it with striving. And I have NEVER regretted giving my life over to him!

So.. dude.. I can understand your offense and certainly your disagreement with this article. I know how you feel… I felt the same way, but I have found Jesus – or more accurately, He perused and found me.

If what I have written in the article (or in this response) is wrong, I have lived a better life, much more full, and much more loving and rich than I would have otherwise lived. In fact, if it were not for Jesus intercepting me on the self-destructive path I was on, I would probably be dead today.

I have no regrets for following Him.

But if I am right, I will be with my Lord one day, forever! I see no downside to the Gospel. If you are right, and there is no God, I still have no regrets. But if you are wrong… what are the consequences for those who don’t believe? Just something to think about.

The stakes are high, and I heartily encourage everyone to REALLY, REALLY study this one out. Because hell is hot, and eternity is a long time.

You have mentioned that you read the Bible. The Gospel of John is a good place to start to see who Jesus says he is.

As far as you or others who may feel offended by this article, or may just simply disagree with it (which is most likely the case – as I think we use the word “offended” too much when we really just disagree with something). I completely understand. And I would say that not everything that challenges us is bad. In fact, challenges make us stronger, and force us to dig deep and work through stuff. And this article and my commentary here is could be challenging and hard to hear. I get that.

Oh, and thank you for your kind words, “Your articles are great and very useful…” – THANK YOU, Thank you!

You continued, “…but please do not mix it with religion.” I would say in response, that who I am (and what you like about Ultimate Survival Tips – or even myself personally) is inseparable from my relationship with and belief in Jesus. Jesus made me who I am – at least the good parts – LOL.

He put me on this path and seems to have blessed Ultimate Survival Tips – and who I am in Him just oozes out sometimes, even in videos.

I would not be true to my mission, call and who I am if from time to time my relationship with God did not come out in a more direct way.

Now this article was very purposeful and direct. But the reason it exists is because it is (IMO) the greatest survival tip that I can share with you. If I didn’t share it I would have left out the best I have to give to you. And I don’t feel right about that.

If we were able to sit down over a cup of coffee… I would listen to you, and we would talk through things and my relationship with Jesus would probably be part of our conversation as would your atheism… because I would be interested in learning more about you. And my guess is that we would have a jolly good chat… and that would be cool. But we do not have that luxury here.

SO I humbly submit this comment to you and hope that I sufficiently answered your concerns ( or at least explained where I am coming from a bit more).

And I hope that if we can not agree, that you will honor all that good that is “free speech” is and agree to disagree with me. You seem like a reasonable chap, so I expect nothing other than that.

So dude, if I ever get to Poland… or you ever get to Pennsylvania in the USA… lets try and get together. I am mostly Polish and would love to hang out with you and learn more about you and my ancestral homeland.

I know a great little Cafe’ in town and would love to treat you.

Praying for you man! And I REALLY appreciate your comment. I hope to see you on the other side!

      Warmest regards and abundant blessings,

    • I for one am glad that my eternal destiny is not determined by the fact that I have done more good things than bad. I would like to think that perhaps my good out weighs my bad but the truth is I could be way off in the wrong direction. So I’m thankful that it isn’t up to me and me deserving anything but by Gods grace through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ, I can know that my destiny in Heaven is secure. As for a “holding place” for payment of sins, I like the concept but have never found any mention of it in the Bible.

  • …when I saw the title of your post, I thought to myself what it is that I consider to be the single most important Survival Tool in my personal collection of knowledge, and before even reading your first words, I felt that I already knew where you were going.
What a strength and comfort the presence of Christ gives to us in our daily survival. Imagine the strength and comfort that He provides us in our greatest times of need.
The knowledge and skill that you share is a great gift to all who are open to receive it. On a very small scale, not all that different from He who guides and teaches us all.
Thank you, and keep up the great work. His work.

    Hi David & Carin,

I really like your site & YouTube channel but especially I like this page.

Thanks for not being ashamed of your faith and taking the time to share it so eloquently.

    Greetings from the UK.

Absolutely beautifully said I’m glad there are still people like you in the world to spread the gospel especially in the turmoil times we all live in today and with all of the misdirection people receive I want to thank you and your family for actually caring about everyone as simple as it is to some and as hard as it is to swallow for others it is the truth and I am gracious that Jesus Christ died for all of our sins

  • people are lazy and stupid, don’t be one of them

  • God bless you and yours David. Through your article I’ve seen someone who is strong in his conviction, sound in his belief, and willing to stand firm in his faith. I’m a child of God as well, not perfect nor devout as you or your family but I do believe. Thank you David for all that you do and we’ll see you on the other side.

For those of you who are disappointed or offended by this Survival Tip, I feel sorry for you. Survival of the body without survival of the soul, would be an empty existence. Like many other creatures of the earth, you just exist. How sad. For me, without Faith and Hope of eternal life my existence would be unbearable. This IS the most important survival tip! And for those of you that don’t believe,…well, good luck!

I thank the author for this tip and applaud your courage to proclaim your faith.

Salvation is a free gift. You cannot buy it. Only reject or accept it. The kind of person you are means nothing.

So here God is extending his hand out to you. In it is the gift of heaven bought and paid for buy blood. No charge to you because it already cost Him everything. Absolutely free to anyone who will receive it.

The only part you play is either to reach out and take it or walk away. Why this should ever anger anyone befuddles me. How does immense immeasurable kindness anger anyone? Just bowel seizing..!

Good on you David! The very best post you have ever written anywhere at anytime.

agree with the mindset disagree with the religion see how can someone else take the blame for you and no thanks I will not use the JCGC[Jesus Christ Gold Card]

    • William

The Jesus Christ Gold Card is the only way anyone is going to make it into heaven. I pray you understand it and embrace the opportunity to use it. In HIS name, Amen.

      • Phil

God, Who is morally perfect, requires justice – punishment for all wrong doing. In His grace – undeserving favor – He became a man, and willingly took upon Himself punishment for all sin. By believing this with a changed heart, one of deep gratitude with a willingness to follow Him, understanding He has done everything necessary to achieve our eternal salvation; we receive the ultimate gold card.

WOW, Well said good and trusted servant. Looks like to me the farther we get from God in this country ,the more your skill set is needed.

  • Tracy Duplichan

I’m a disabled vet & now divorced twice. I know I wasn’t always the best person but tried yet both women found I was not enough for them. But I can’t blame them I have to take part of it too because I wasn’t always their when they needed me or what they needed when I was. I’ve seen lots of things being in the military and having bad relationships and having my first wife turn my kids away from me. Again I can’t totally blame them. The things I’ve seen & been through made me question if He was real or not or if I was just meant to suffer because of something I have done in the past. But after reading this I see its like being lost in the woods. You have the tools & everything you need to live you just have to use them or in my case learn to use them. Thank you for the tip. Now I see I just need to practice it til I get it right & teach others how to use it along the way. I know there will still be days I struggle but I feel you pointed me down a better path than I was on.

    Thank you,

  • Amen.
    You have it right brother.
    God Bless!

    Hi David,

Thank for writing this on your site!
I want to tell my experience about Heaven.

In 1998, directly after a heavy accident at work, I opened my eyes in total darkness. It was as if I was in a totally black cloud.
At one moment I saw a pure light come by from behind. Before I turned my head, the light went totally trough my body and it felt more than great. It was pure light and pure love. There is nothing on earth to compare with how this felt, so beautiful.
I turned my head to see where it came from and I saw about four inch behind my back, a large wall of light. The big stones and the mortar were also made of light.
Some moments later I was gone from that beautiful place. Later I opened my eyes in an ambulance.

At that time I was not a Christian and I only knew that I was been ‘at the light’.
In 2005 I did the best I could ever do, and gave my heart to our Lord Jesus Christ, and from that day I know I have been at the gate of Heaven and felt the love of our good God.
So I can tell you there is a place called Heaven and I do not have the words to explain to you how great it feels when you are there.

    God bless brother!

  • Rich

Amen! I know in whom I believe! But until it is my time, I will prepare to live to the best of my ability and be prepared to not only survive but to thrive. Thanks for your lessons in life and death.

  • Andre Botha

Hi David and Carin, thank you very much for being “out loud” for what you believe in. I thoroughly enjoyed your “Greatest Survival Tip” so much. It was a fresh perspective in the world of Survival, where testosterone can sometime take precedence.
My wife and I run a Christian School in Durban, South Africa. One of the extra-murals we offer at our school is an adventure club, called Badgers, and we do survival and bush craft camps, and we also love hiking in the beautiful parts of South Africa, especially in the Drakensberg in the province of Kwa Zulu Natal. Our membership now stands at about 40 children, aged between 7 and 16.
I would love to, with your blessing, use your message for my assembly with our school soon. I was thinking of using my 9 leaders to assist with different parts of the message.
Keep up the good work, and we’ll be praying for your ministry. God bless. Andre Botha

👍🏼 good on ya fulla. through the refiners fire aye, challenging answers, but you get left with only what is durable, I see your going for gold not straw. I pray that through your challenges God pours out his anointing oil that you will be strengthened and will strengthen.

  • Thank you David. I’m a born again Christian and your’s is the first survival website I have ever seen that explicitly details
    God’s plan for mankinds salvation.
    Praise the Lord!

    Again, thank you my brother.
