[NOTES]

What is Bugging Out?

Leaving your home or current location (on foot or (preferably by vehicle) to flee a life threatening situation.

Moving from an your home or current affected (Dangerous Place) - to Safer Place when you have no other option.

A strategically planned evacuation.

KEY: Plan for the Worst - and You Will Be Set for Anything

Plan for the biggest most probable threats for your primary location:

  • Manmade
  • Natural Disaster

Once You SET Up You Bug Out Bag / Emergency Kit and Plan

then go live and enjoy your life!

Occasionally, review it (every 3 - 6 months). Update seasonally as appropriate.

Note: Bug Out can be a mile down the road to grandmas house, 300 miles to another region or an escape from one country to another.

Bugging Out is a Preparedness Strategy / Tactic to Mitigate Risk of Harm or Death.

Key: Remember, your life is more important than your stuff.

Bug Out Plan - Primary

Build your bug out bag to fit your bug out plan.

Answer these Questions:

“When things suddenly go south - what will I do?”

Your bug out bag / kit / vehicle - should include what you need to accomplish this.

“When things go bad - what is going to kill me first?” Deal with this first…

Your bug out bag / kit / vehicle - should include what you need to prevent this.

Build a Layered Bug Out Emergency Kit System

  • EDC
  • Heavy EDC
  • Go Bag
  • Bug Out Bag

PACE Plan

Things never go the way we plan so the military uses a four tiered planning structure called a PACE Plan.

PACE stands for:

  • Primary
  • Alternate
  • Contingency
  • Emergency

One level of planning is better than none.

Two levels is better than one… and so on.

With every level ask yourself, “If this plan falls through, what will I do?”

And so on…

 Special Forces Plan

  • Ingress
  • Egress
  • Primary Plan
  • PACE Plan
  • Emergency Plan / Resources Cache.

What would Geronimo (Apache leader) do?

Steal a horse run it until it could run no more. Eat it. Use it for resources. Run until he found another horse and do it again. He was a ghost that could not be captured.

Weight will DESTROY You.

Carry what you can comfortably on foot. Maximum weight is 35lbs. but it should be around 25 lbs. @ NO MORE than 15% body weight.

You want to be able to get:

  • Further
  • Farther
  • Faster than others

Key: The more you know the less you carry

Like Geronimo…
