Crafted from 3/16" (0.48cm) thick, 154cm stainless steel. This tough steel will retain a razor's-edge, repel rust, and is friendly to field sharpening.

Imagine Your Perfect "Go To" Blade...
Following the fantastic success of David's MSK-1 knife - he started dreaming of an "everyman's knife" that retained the unique features, advantages and benefits of the MSK-1 but was more streamlined and attractive to a wider range of knife users interested in camping, bushcraft, prepping, self-defense and tactical applications.
So in 2017 David's key knife objectives went on the white board and he began a four-year process of sketching... laying it down... sketching more, and coming back months later.
Finally, one day it all came together. Just what he imagined. David then began prototyping and testing with the help of his USA manufacturing team.
Sketches in hand... They NAILED It! "BAM!"
"The first prototype out of the gates that our team send me was EXACTLY what I imagined. We only had to make one or two very small tweaks," recounts David.
Next were the full production prototypes and final testing.
The final prototypes performed so well that the decision was made to skip KICKSTARTER and risk of going right into manufacturing a limited number of first run of knives.
"A few months later, 200 BEAUTIFUL blades were delivered! Every single one perfect!", David remembers.

I have bought many survival knives in the last 40 years, all were bought to use, not to put in a case. Most were from big name knife manufacturers, but several handmade knives were purchased. None of them were without shortcomings, and I learned the tip can be broken off an $800 knife, and that most of the sheaths were an afterthought. I recently purchased UST's PACK-1 knife, and for the first time there are zero disappointments. When in the hand this knife feels like a natural extension of your arm. It is very comfortable in any position in the hand, and easy to grip with the slotted micarta scales. It is extremely sharp out of the box, and David's choice of steel is excellent. The 5 position Kydex sheath is an engineering marvel by itself. More thought has been put into every aspect of this knife and sheath system than I have ever seen before. This is the equivalent of buying a handmade knife, except you get a much better sheath, nothing off the shelf here. David is clearly a man who uses a knife everyday. I have also bought an MSK-1 Primitive, and I can say with no reservations these are the two best, most rugged, useful knives I own. If you are someone who appreciates and depends on a good blade, the PACK-1 should be your next investment.
I bought my first PACK-1 Elite knife last year. I use it so often I wanted to make absolutely sure I always had one, so I bought a spare just in case I lost it one way or another. In decades of using a knife on a daily basis, I have never come across another knife that is so light, handy, useful, and resiliently sharp as the PACK-1 Elite. It is so well designed, with a handle that has no hot spots, it can be used effortlessly all day. When combined with UST's diamond/stropping kit, you always have a razor sharp, precision instrument that will last a lifetime, or more. A truly indispensable tool.
Wow! is my immediate and continued reaction to the Pack-1. It feels so good in one's hand that the balance and design integrity are obvious. I have owned and used a good variety of top knives designed for survival and camping and the Pack-1 Elite feels even better. There is a completeness to the Pack-1's design that I can't get enough of. I cannot wait to get this knife out in the woods.
An all around do all knife. This thing has the rigidity and strength to procure firewood or use to build a bushcraft shelter. And yet also has the finesse to handle more delicate projects such as cutting vegetables or making fire tender. I wouldn't be worried to take this on my next hunt and use it to field dress my kill. And all the while knowing: I have some "save my life" goodies in the handle. Great product! Keep it up!
The MSK-1 feel so well in my hand and was so well balanced.
I 've got the same great feeling whith the PACK-1 in my hand.
He doesn't look so big, but it's a big all purpose sturdy blade.
Created in the same way than the famous KA-BAR USMC, but much more stronger.
Very well made , very well finished (made by TOPS).
He's a little to pricy, but made by TOPS witch is not a low cost company.
I'm not a big fan of the sheath, i probably mke my own, but if you lika the MSK-1 sheath you'll like the PACK-1 sheath.
