Why the Original January Launch Plan Changed
First, I owe you an apology for being quiet and for missing the January launch date without communicating with you.
As you may know, my plan was to open pre‑orders for the new MSK‑1 directly on our website.
As a solo entrepreneur (for the first time in many years) wearing more hats than ever, that seemed like the most straightforward path.
Then Life Got Really Complicated
Over the past few months, I’ve had to navigate a significant personal and business situation, deal with a serious intellectual‑property issue involving copyright infringement of our Tiny Guides, and rebuild our entire email communication platform from the ground up — all so we can serve our community better and actually send you updates.
Which is why you haven’t heard from me.
Plus, I was just plain fried — toast — and close to burnout!
You’ve probably been there.
All of this slowed down both the knife launch and my ability to communicate effectively with you.
At the same time, we hit several significant obstacles and risks with setting up website pre‑orders that made me uncomfortable.
Looking at everything going on, I decided the best move was to press pause and take a little personal time to regroup.
Returning to Our Roots
Many of you will remember that MSK‑1 was born on Kickstarter. That platform gave us the structure, transparency, and community support we needed to bring a new kind of survival system to life.
So, instead of forcing a complex pre‑order through our website, I’ve decided to bring the next‑gen MSK‑1 Legacy Elite X back to Kickstarter.
This approach will keep expectations clear, communication centralized, and production focused from day one.

The Exciting Part: A New MSK‑1 Evolution
While all of this was going on, I kept working on the knife itself.
Since our first Kickstarter in 2016, the MSK‑1 has been proven by thousands of users around the world. But one question kept coming up:
“Can you make it lighter without losing the toughness?”
My gut response was always, “No — it’s gotta be a full ¼‑inch thick.” End of conversation.
Still, I was curious.
So I started experimenting with blade thickness and steel.
What I discovered was that I could cut the MSK‑1’s weight by 25% (by reducing the blade thickness) with no noticeable loss in its ability to handle hard‑use tasks like chopping, splitting, and batoning.
At the same time, it performs noticeably better in common daily tasks like slicing, cutting, and carving — and it feels much lighter in the hand and on the belt.
On the steel side, we’ve significantly boosted strength by using Swedish 14C28N — a high‑performance steel at a mid‑range price. It’s the same steel we’ve been using in our MSK‑1 Mini EDGE knives.
Big Knife Power — Now 25% Lighter
It still carries the core MSK‑1 DNA — big‑knife power, fine‑edge control, and survival‑system versatility — but with a weight and balance that make it even more practical for everyday carry and use.
My wife loves it. She never wanted an MSK‑1 before because it was too heavy for her.
It’s honestly too exciting not to launch — and it’s the knife I’m now building this next campaign around.
